Though the Gubernatorial Elections seem a long way off, prospective candidates are already gearing up for 2014. A number of people have begun floating their names as possible candidates for the US Senate and Governor. One of these possible candidates, State Treasurer Dan Rutherford, has all but said he will be running for Governor. The likelihood of him announcing his candidacy is high and could come early in 2013. Though he has not announced it yet, if he does in fact decide to run, it will leave the office of Treasurer open for election and surely many people on both sides of the aisle will line up to replace Treasurer Rutherford,
Here is a early list of possible candidates to run for Treasurer if Rutherford decides to step down. Will County Treasurer Steve Weber, recently re-elected DuPage County Auditor Bob Grogan, Director of the Illinois Fund and Invest Illinois Ashvin Lad, and State Senate Minority Leader Christine Radogno.

He has been active in politics over the years serving as a Township campaign coordinator for a number of Republican campaigns, a Republican Committeeman, and vice-chairman for Downers Grove Township Republican Organization. In the private sector he has worked for Bank One, ABN AMRO, and Legacy Professionals LLP. In 2008 he was elected DuPage County Auditor and was re-elected in November.
